The picky West Branch Delaware fish love this fly! I use a sparse polypropylene shuck and superfine dubbing for body, so it is a sort of combination between a sparkle dun and the usual. The Sparkle Usual!

SO it may be a big ask but i think the "transcript " gets your accent guess may be not 100% accurate - would you mine listing these buy the row the names - i have a 1938copy of Bergman's Trout - and I like to duplicate these "traditional" patterns that flight of your "small" sampling need sot be in one of my boxes,,, :). but i can not really hear the names.. thanks in advance

Once again great vid Davie . I'm surprised you don't catch more Par . Or maybe, they get edited out. And over the years I've fished. It never ceases to amaze me, the amount of work that's been done on rivers, to stabilise the banks. Or even change the course in some case . Nowadays the use gabions, but not originally . Where I am now, the estate owners completely altered the course in the 1800s . With everything , including the bed of the small spate River and feeder burns and new weirs , with even the beds of which, being lined in a lot of places with quarried and worked stone. It was taken over by the FC and now the FLS both of whom, have let in fall into disrepair. And leased the fishing to Dunoon Angling club. But it's a hard river to fish now.Because of neglect. There used to be great migratory runs . But like most west coast rivers, now severely depleted.

Must be very nice to be able to have such a beautiful water for yourself even on a Sunday.

Hi Davie, when your fishing a dry fly, and a nymph of the dropper , how long should the dropper be, it take it you don’t want it to be to long.

Thx Davie, just the ticket here in Tassie. I tie something similar with possum. I like using the post as part of the body. Some nice fibres you have too, a bit costly getting those hackle and tail materials, but thx for showing us the way to tie a parachute, something I always struggle to get tidy, nicely done

Would you like to fish at Friars Carse on The Nith on either July 23rd or 24th. We will be a group of mainly game angling instructors and most of us tie as well. We can show you an unusual fly that has caught 100s of Trout and Grayling on The Nith . I myself caught a least 100 grayling last year in 4 days and couple of extra hours fishing 2 weeks later. Great videos as always Davie and I've not seen the technique of making wings from the same feather as normally they're from feathers of opposing wings. So applause for that. I've a question please. The wing height is normally the shank length. What would be the best width? I know the fish won't mind, but from a visual tying perspective, would it be half the gape for example or is there some other guide? Thanks. Jim

Davy,Why do you wax your thread when you cann get threads nowadays that are pre waxed . Is it just that your used to it or do you not use waxed threads.
