What river was this on Davie? I've never caught a salmon before, as I'm a stillwater weight trout fisherman and cannot wait to get out on the rivers leven for big Brownies and potentially a salmon.

Congratulations, that is a proper salmon, now you have to catch a bigger one. I love seeing a big fish run up stream, I saw salmon jump up three-foot waterfalls running up stream after being hooked. However, you had better start walking if one runs downstream because the big ones seldom ever come back. Your chances of losing that battle are sealed. I saw it happen many times. It only takes too much line pressure to turn them sideways and send them shooting downstream. That is a no fun thing to do, I just keep light pressure on them and let them get wore out. They almost never come to the net the first time you think you can net them either.👏👍😆👏
